Jakarta, October 2025, PT Borneo Indobara (BIB), a subsidiary of PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk (GEMS), has received the Subroto Award in the Most Innovative PPM category through the Karin Feed Mill Program, held in Jakarta on October 24, 2025, by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia.

Karin Feed Mill Program
Karin Feed Mill is part of BIB’s initiative to develop an integrated farming system, a unified and sustainable agricultural system that combines the agriculture, livestock, and waste management sectors within a mutually supportive economic ecosystem.
This program utilizes local foods such as feed corn, fish meal, and other natural ingredients as the primary raw materials for producing high-quality animal feed. Through this approach, communities can process agricultural and fishery products into value-added products, while reducing dependence on imported or out-of-region feed.
Furthermore, this system also promotes a circular economy, where livestock waste is recycled into organic fertilizer that is used to improve agricultural soil quality. Thus, the community is not only a beneficiary but also a key player in the sustainable local feed production and distribution chain.
The Karin Feed Mill program has had a significant impact on the surrounding community. Economically, the program opens new business opportunities, creates jobs, and increases community incomes by processing local raw materials into high-value animal feed. Socially, the community gains skills through training in production, business management, and integrated agricultural techniques, enabling them to manage the initiatives independently. Environmentally, the program has successfully optimized the use of local materials and organic waste, creating an environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural system.
Mr. Riadi Simka Pinem, Head of Mining Engineering at BIB, stated, “We are grateful for this award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The Karin Feed Mill program proves that local potential can be transformed into a powerful force for the community. The integrated farming approach not only strengthens the local economy but also builds independence and socio-environmental sustainability. We will continue to expand the positive impact of this program in other areas.”
The Subroto Award for Most Innovative Community Empowerment Program (PPM) represents national recognition for BIB’s commitment to building an innovative, locally-sourced, and sustainable community empowerment model. The success of this program demonstrates the genuine synergy between the government, BIB, and the community in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in poverty alleviation (SDG 1), food security (SDG 2), and inclusive economic growth (SDG 8).
