Jakarta, September 2025, PT Borneo Indobara (BIB), a subsidiary of PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk (GEMS), received two Gold Awards and one Silver Award for programs, as well as one Excellence Award for individuals, at the 2025 CSR & Sustainable Village Development (PDB) Awards held in Jakarta on September 30, 2025, by the Indonesian Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF) through its Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM). Assessment in this event included aspects of innovation, sustainability, community participation, and social impact on achieving the Village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The awards won by BIB are as follows:
- Andaru Potable Water – Gold Award
This Drinking Water Program is a continuation of the previous clean water program. The raw water source for clean and drinking water comes from a former mining pond. For this drinking water program, BIB assists with infrastructure development and permitting. The program benefits 22 villages across 5 sub-districts. The program is managed by both Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdesma) and Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdes) in the 22 villages, generating additional income for the villages.
- Karin Feed Mill – Gold Award
This community empowerment program focuses on producing animal feed based on local raw materials. This program encourages local economic self-reliance and creates new jobs. This program also integrates the 22 villages by supplying raw materials needed by the feed mill (village clusters of agriculture and marine fisheries), and the resulting feed is returned to the livestock and fisheries village clusters, achieving zero waste system.
- Ziyadataul Abrar Floating Mosque – Silver Award
Through its infrastructure pillar, BIB built a floating mosque, an icon of Tanah Bumbu Regency, serving as a center for worship, social activities, and religious tourism for the community surrounding its operational area. Furthermore, the impact was felt in the significant improvement of the economy in the affected areas, especially for the surrounding MSMEs.
- Individual Management Category – Excellence Award
BIB also submitted an individual program in the management category, which also received an award for its paper entitled: “Carving Out Real Impacts for Villages for Economic and Social Sustainability.”
Community and Beneficiary Involvement
The awards ceremony was attended by representatives of the community who are direct beneficiaries of BIB’s CSR programs, such as Mr. Yono, Head of Mekarjaya Village; Mr. Marzuki, Head of BUMDesMa Mekarsari Angsana, who is involved in the Andaru Potable Water program; and Mr. Puana from the Karin Feed Mill group.
Their presence emphasized that every CSR program implemented by BIB is implemented with a participatory approach, where the community is actively involved in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the program. Thus, each initiative truly addresses local needs and provides long-term benefits. Ms. Silvyna Aditia, a representative of BIB’s management, stated, “We are very grateful for the recognition received through the 2025 CSR & PDB Awards. We are committed to continuing to deliver inclusive, innovative, and sustainability-oriented Community Empowerment (PPM) programs. We believe that the spirit of growing with the community is the a key foundation for realizing sustainable development.”
BIB’s achievements reflect BIB’s contribution to promoting village independence, community empowerment, and the implementation of the Village SDGs principles in BIB’s operational areas.
BIB views its Community Development & Empowerment (PPM) program as an integral part of its sustainable business strategy. Its various programs focus on the eight pillars outlined in ESDM Ministerial Decree No. 1824/2018. BIB also implements the Creating Shared Value (CSV) principle, which seeks to create shared value between BIB and the community, ensuring that business growth goes hand in hand with enhancing social welfare and preserving the environment.
